How To Prepare A Home For Portable Generator Use?

January 24th, 2008

The Generac portable generator location is dependent on where your home electrical service is located and where you have access to place the unit away from the living area. You want it close enough so the cost to wire into the home is not prohibitive, but far enough away that the sound of the portable generator running will not be a disruption to your home.

If the unit does not have automatic start-up when power is off, remember to have a way to get to the unit at night if lights and power are off. A portable generator will do you no good if you are unable to get to it to start it up. For security purposes, you might want to enclose the portable generator in a chain-link or wire fence to protect from theft and children at play.

Wiring a generator into the home wiring system should be performed by a licensed electrician. There are issues that must be addressed to protect not only your family, but also other people and workers on the normal electrical system. Electricity will operate in either direction, so you must put filters on your unit to keep it from charging the normal electrical system.

The cost of the parts including the switching box is not cheap, possibly several thousand dollars. The portable generator should be installed in an open ventillated area with a roof or canopy covering to protect it from the weather but still allowing adequate exhaust ventillation and carbon monoxide dissapation.

Honda portable generator are explosively quiet?

January 11th, 2008

When considering the purchase of a honda portable generator, you should compare a few different models on the market to include a honda power generator. The honda power generator happens to be one of the quietest models out of all the other brands. Most people don’t think that paying extra for a portable generator to be quieter is worth it, but only time will tell. Try using one during a party or camping trip, and you’ll see that a quieter generator is very important in many cases. Tailgating and camping are two of those cases.

The average tailgate party takes place outside of a stadium where folks get together to enjoy food and beverages before and after some type of sporting event. Just imagine if each one of the groups has a noisy generator to run their electrical appliances. It would be quite difficult to actually communicate or even hear what is going on around you.

Now, imagine going to a sporting event and not having tickets to watch the game. One could only hope that during the game there still could be fun had by the group. Maybe if there is a television available, then the game could be watched outside in the stadium. However, for this to occur, a portable generator would be needed. And not just any old generator, but one that was quiet enough to enjoy watching the game and that could be only a few feet from the engine, with maybe the shielding of a rv or camper to protect you from the noise.
