The following big upshot in the history of digital photography was the
development of the 1st consumer digital photographic camera. The 1st consumer
digital photographic camera brought out to the retail marketplace was the
Mavica, brought out by Sony in 1981. The photographic camera registered its
images onto a floppy and each disk held upwards of 1.44 MB of photographs. The
number of photographs that could be taken, had no limit, since each magnetic
disc could be taken out and substituted, and the photographs could be deleted
from the magnetic disc so newer photographs could get added. The modern-day
digital photographic camera was born.
Over the years, technological advancements during the
history of digital photography have produced photographic cameras that are much
smaller, more powerful, and at prices much more accessible to the general
